Capteurs et systèmes embarqués pour la santé et l’environnement
Titre / Title :
Capteurs et systèmes embarqués pour la santé et l’environnement
Orateur / speaker:
Sylvain Feruglio
Professeur des Universités – Sorbonne Université - Laboratoire LIP6
Résumé / Abstract :
This seminar presents recent advances in sensors and embedded systems for applications in health and environmental monitoring. It highlights the role of integrated electronics, noise analysis, and signal integrity in the design of robust and reliable devices operating in constrained environments. The talk will illustrate how these approaches enable innovative biomedical instruments and advanced data acquisition and processing systems, bridging the gap between component-level design and complex heterogeneous systems.
Biographie / speaker's bio:
Sylvain Feruglio received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Automation (EEA), as well as a Master’s degree in Electronics with a specialization in Instrumentation and Systems from Pierre and Marie Curie University (UPMC, now Sorbonne University), in 1999, 2000 and 2001, respectively. He obtained his PhD in 2005 at LISIF (UPMC) on noise modeling in active pixel image sensors.
He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the CROMA laboratory (INPG, France), where he contributed to the study and characterization of CMOS and SOI technologies in collaboration with semiconductor companies. He obtained his Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches (HDR) in 2018 with a focus on the design and modeling of robust embedded systems in constrained environments.
Since 2007, he has been with LIP6 (Sorbonne University), within the SYEL (Electronic Systems) team. His research, conducted through academic and industrial projects, focuses on sensors and integrated electronics, noise analysis, and signal integrity, with applications mainly in biomedical engineering. Over the past decade, he has closely collaborated with researchers from AP-HP on the development of innovative instrumentation and data acquisition and processing systems.
He is also actively involved in teaching, primarily at Polytech Sorbonne (engineering school), as well as in various academic and private institutions.
Sylvain Feruglio was appointed Professor at Sorbonne University in September 2025. He is currently on a CRCT sabbatical at ESYCOM, Université Gustave Eiffel, for six months starting in February 2026.
